Destruction! Downloading Bacon @ 85%
The pigs have continued to tear apart anything they can get their little hooves and snouts on. The door to the coop is constantly under attack and today we lost the battle.
I received a call from home that the pigs had escaped and were running around the area rooting up every patch of grass in their way. We feed the pigs whole corn, steamed corn (which they love, see What do we feed our pigs?) and apples/fruit and vegetables with some protein and pig finisher.
But no, apparently that’s not good enough for them and they have to destroy everything looking for whatever they can find. A second call followed with the news that the pigs had destroyed a good 20×20 feet worth of my neighbors perfectly kept lawn . Fortunately we have good relationships with our neighbors and the owner even helped to get the pigs back into the pen. He has some pork coming his way as a thank you!
The grass was repaired as best we could and it should turn out fine in the end. Even if it didn’t were protected as the law states that animals do not need to be fenced in rather it’s a homeowners responsibility to fence unwanted animals out, that’s just the rules when living outside the city. Although we’re not the kind of people who would not correct a wrong. The door was reinforced when I arrived home and calls were placed to schedule a trip to the butcher.
