Using Mederma on Kids really works!
We experienced no negative side effects and many positive benefits.
This is not a post that I am happy that I have an opportunity to write. No one wants to experience an injury that leads to a scar.
Especially, no one wants your young child to have to experience such a thing. But when it occurs in such a visible area as the face, it’s the worst feeling. And it’s even worse when it is the result of an accident that is your fault.
Cause of the Scar
This past January, I was speaking with my older children and gesturing with my hands. My almost-5-year-old was being her normal active self and just happened to run past me right when I moved my hand.
The combined force of her running and the energy I had put into gesturing along with the fact that I have always had pretty strong fingernails was a recipe for disaster.
My fingernail somehow caused this horrible cut on her baby smooth cheek.
At first I didn’t understand the extent of the damage, but when I realized what had happened, I was horrified! I did what I could to clean it and put Neosporin on it and hoped for the best.
I was Hoping It Would Heal
A week or so later, the scab was coming off. Unfortunately, since the cut was so large, the bottom part was ready to come off, but the top part was not. When the bottom section came off, it took the top part with it and it caused it to bleed pretty heavily again.
I was so worried about what sort of scar this would leave and felt so sad that my preschooler had to walk around with such a noticeable scar.
Here it is about a month later. The picture quality isn’t the greatest, but you can still clearly see the scar as a prominent feature of her face.
I was hoping the scar would fade quickly, but I found it was May and the scar was still painfully visible on my little girl’s face. I knew it was time to help it along.
Mederma for Kids
After reading multiple reviews, I ordered Mederma PM and Mederma + SPF 30 Scar Cream these 2 products. The first one is to be used at night, just before bed and the other is for application during the day.
Here is what the scar looked liked at the time I started applying these creams. As you can see, the skin surrounding her scars is rough with a red appearance as well.
Results From Using Mederma
I applied the creams faithfully night and day, directly to the scar and the area surrounding it.
Two months later, I am happy to note that the creams have definitely been working! You really have to scrutinize this picture to even see the scar and the skin surrounding the scar is smooth and even toned.
I am very pleased with how Mederma scar cream has helped heal and reduce the visibility of the scar on my child’s face.
